The natural Bamboo-luxe™ spring mattress incorporates optimum breathability with a washable natural fabric.

It has an orthopaedic, double cone, spring interior offering excellent spinal support for your growing baby.

On the top sleeping surface there is a fully breathable Bamboo-Ventiflow™ cover that will help to prevent overheating and maximise breathability. Bamboo is naturally antibacterial, extremely soft to the touch, and offers a unique resistance to pests, bacteria and fungi.

On the reverse there is an integral waterproof, wipe-clean training surface, perfect whilst potty training or if your child is sickly.

The whole cover can be removed and washed at 40ºC.

Springs add further support and durability to a mattress and are often the choice for the older child, providing better postural support. Additionally the space within the spring lattice allows for better airflow helping with temperature regulation of the child.

The springs used in the inner core of the Kit for Kids Bamboo-luxe™ Spring mattress are linked double cone orthopaedic springs giving excellent spinal support and comfort.

This fully reversible mattress is an excellent choice due to its long lasting spring interior.

The correct choice of mattress will provide a healthier and safer sleeping environment; provide a better night’s sleep for your child, and peace of mind for you, the parent.

Kit for Kids is an award winning cot mattress manufacturer and supplies products to a wide range of retailers worldwide. The creation of safe and comfortable sleeping surfaces for babies and children lies at the core of the Kit for Kids philosophy.

At Kit for Kids a cot mattress is not just a mattress. It is a highly technical product designed by some of the foremost experts in their field using some of the most advanced materials in the world today whilst reflecting the latest clinical research.

Parentsupermarket.com Top tips for buying the RIGHT Mattress;

There are many different types of cot mattresses available.  You may be concerned to know which is the best and safest mattress to use for your baby. In fact, The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths states that it doesn't matter what kind of mattress you use, as long as it's firm not soft, fits the cot without any gaps, doesn't sag at all or show any signs of wear and tear. So to be on the safe side, unless you know the history of a second-hand mattress, buy a new one.

Cot Mattress Size;

Mattresses come in two basic sizes. Your cot will specify which size of mattress it requires. If the mattress is the wrong size, your baby could be dangerously trapped in gaps between the cot and the mattress. As a rule the gap should be no more than 4cm.

Keeping it clean;

Choose one with a PVC- covering or a removable top panel that you can wash at a reasonably high temperature.

Try before you buy;

Choose one that feels firm rather than soft and is 10cm thick. Your baby needs a mattress which provides good support and won't sag. A Travel cot mattress should be no more than 10cm thick and a crib or moses basket no more than 5cm thick. These thicknesses are specified in the safety regulations that govern cot mattresses.

Safety first;

Check it conforms to safety requirements; mattresses should carry the BSI number 1877-10:1997.

Types of mattresses;

Foam mattresses

Foam mattresses are generally the cheapest available. They often have a PVC cover, which is easy to keep clean. Choose a mattress which is at least 8-10cm thick, to help support your baby while he sleeps. Some foam mattresses have ventilation holes but these aren't necessary.

Pros
Lightweight and easy to keep clean

Good value for money

Cons
PVC cover might make your baby feel a bit clammy in hot weather.

Spring interior mattresses

These mattresses are made of coiled springs covered with a layer of foam. On top of that, one side of the mattress is usually covered in cotton fabric and the other in wipe-clean plastic.

Parents' tip: If you're concerned that your baby is getting overheated when sleeping on the plastic side of the mattress, lie it cotton side upwards instead, but vacuum it regularly to keep dust mites at bay.

Pros
Many parents like giving their baby a traditional spring mattress.

Cons
More expensive than a foam mattress.

Natural fibre mattresses

The interior of a natural fibre mattress is usually coconut fibre coated in latex, which is waterproof. The covers are soft cotton.

Pros
Good choice if you are concerned about your baby sleeping on synthetic material.
Long lasting, as it holds its shape well.

Cons
More expensive than foam or spring interior mattresses.

Less widely available than other types of mattress.

Hypoallergenic mattresses

If allergies or asthma are a concern in your family, you might want to consider a hypoallergenic mattress for your baby. These come with a quilted top layer that can be easily detached from the body of the mattress, so you can wash it at 60 degrees C to kill any dust mites that may cause allergies.

Pros
Good choice if your baby has allergies or asthma.

Easy to keep clean.

Cons
May be more expensive than other kinds of mattress.

For most babies this may be a luxury buy.
